This is a really exciting (and easy) way to dress up russet potatoes. If you need a bit of excitement in your life, of the very simple dinner experimenting variety, then this recipe is for you 🙂
All you’ll need is russet potatoes, olive oil, and salt…
So! Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Cover two medium-size pans with foil. You can use pyrex/glass type or metal sheet pans.
Next, rinse and peel three to five russet potatoes. Depending on their size and how many people will be eating them, you can decide how many potatoes will be just the right amount for your meal!
Using a chef’s knife, cut each potato into “steak fries” style pieces. Each piece will be the length of that potato, then proportionally sized so the pieces are of similar thickness.
Arrange the potato slices across your two pans so that there is a little bit of space between each potato piece. This is key. Now, drizzle generously with olive oil, and take the time to flip every single potato pieces around and around in the oil. This will take patience, but I believe in you!
Finally, salt the potato pieces generously.
Put the two pans in the oven and bake for the first 30 minutes undisturbed.
When the timer goes off after 30 minutes, flip each and every potato slice so that its least-golden side is making contact with the bottom of the pan.
Set a timer again for 10 minutes, then repeat the flipping.
It may take around 4 – 5 minutes after that before the potatoes are incredibly golden and crunchy on all sides. If they’re not quite ready after 5, just give it 2 – 3 more minutes. You’ll know that they’re perfectly awesome when almost every slice is completely golden on almost all of its sides.
